Quick answers to common queries

The colour can vary slightly between batches because our ingredients are naturally sourced. This does not affect quality, safety, or effectiveness. In early 2025 we have also recently reduced the amount of zinc in the formula, which may lead to a different capsule colour. The amount of rice flour may vary slightly between batches as it’s only used as a natural filler. This doesn’t affect the active ingredients or the effectiveness of the product.

Yes, absolutely. You can open the capsule and mix the contents with water or sprinkle it over food if you prefer not to swallow it whole.

It sounds like you’ve received one of our older batches with more than 25mg of zinc. Our updated formula now contains 25mg. Because Amazon fulfils our orders, some older batches are still being sent out until cleared. If you’ve received one of these, and would like a lower zinc dosage, please contact us and we’ll arrange a replacement.

Meso-zeaxanthin isn’t included directly, as research suggests it is formed naturally in the eye from lutein. This approach follows the AREDS2 study on which our formula is based. If you prefer a supplement with all three carotenoids, especially if you have early AMD, it’s worth discussing with your optician.

The “5% extract” refers to the concentration of the source ingredient. The actual active amounts listed on the label (e.g. 10mg lutein, 2mg zeaxanthin) are the real amounts you get in each capsule, not 5% of those figures.

  • Vitamin C: We include 100mg instead of 500mg, as most people already get plenty through diet.
  • Bilberry Extract: Not in AREDS2, but added for antioxidant support to macular health.
  • Zinc: AREDS2 allowed for 25–80mg. We’ve chosen 25mg to avoid excessive intake while still supporting eye health.
